New Zealand’s pandemic response has resulted in numerous shifts in the way that we do daily life – some may be temporary, but many will remain as the ‘new normal’. The challenge for organisations is to take advantage of these changes while operating in uncertain times. Here are some thought starters for organisations seeking to improve in 2022:
The market – Who are your customers? How do they hear about you? Why do they buy from you?
Your products/services – What customer needs are not being met? What are your competitors offering? What tasks can be automated or standardised to improve quality and/or reduce drudgery?
Your cash flow – What will happen if you miss your targeted turnover or costs increase?
The supply chain – Are key suppliers’ businesses sustainable? Do their operating standards fit with your values? What alternatives are there?
Your staff – Is the team working as a team? How is good performance rewarded? Are people in the right roles?
Risk Management – Are the risk registers and health and safety plans up to date?
The environment – How can any negative environmental impacts be reduced?
Your community –In what ways do you align with local community aspirations? What organisations can you collaborate with?
Technology – When was the last IT security review? What new solutions would add value to your product/service offering?
Professional development – What further training would benefit you and your staff?
Your personal wellbeing – What changes are needed to better care for your own and your family’s physical, emotional, and social wellbeing?
